Description

Ta dah! The Inglourious Basterds cast! It took me a while but it's finally done! I loved the film. Definitely quirky but still awesome. I realise the spelling isn't correct but I've done it so it's got the same spelling as the movie title.
I tried doing them in the same style as the Hetalia chibis (I love that show too).

So, I was searching desperately for some "Inglourious Basterds" Fanart, since I developed a very strange attraction to the movie and it's actors. And I found it on your page.
First off, your "Chibi-Style" makes my heart want to melt. I have seen billions of Chibies around here, I am a huge fan of that style. Often they do look all very similar, especially if it's done in a Chibi-Set of a specific TV-Show or movie. Often even the same template was used over and over again for the different characters.
This is what seperates your Chibi set from so many others. You worked in a very unique style. I can not specifically
verbalize what exactly makes your style so very special, I only know that this piece caught my attention by the very first moment I noticed the thumbnail.
I have to admit, I am seriously impressed by the way you did every single of this characters. Every of them looks like they would have been worked out with a lot of love and patience. Also I am saying this because you took advantage of expressing people's personalitys by their eyes. Usually (better said, out of my experiences) an artists focuses on one single way, doing the eyes. You are a special exception. For instance, I really enjoy Landa's half-closed eye while the other one is mischievous winking, Aldo's very small eyes just like Brad Pitt used to have them, Donny's brown eyes wide awake, slaying some Nazis, Shoshanna or better said Emmanuellle's eyes determined by revenge, Bridget's a little precarious after the happenings in the tavern, Hicox' ones laid-back and cool as always, Stiglitz' filled with hate of the Nazi-Regime and Zoller's a bit insecure though very fonded by Emmanuelle.
The eyes are not the only thing, letting the characters appear so much as indiviual. The outifits of each of them are drawn with so much reference of the original outifts in the movie. Even the uniforms of Zoller, Hicox and Stiglitz seem all a little different, though they almost wear the same one in the movie. The dress of Bridget is just beautifully drawn followed by the white boa. You caught her elegance without putting to much details in it, just as Chibies are supposed, looking like! Same with Aldo Raine and Donny Donowitz I find. I highly apprectiate it, the way, yet again you showed the character's personalities trough little symbols. (Landa: A glas of milk, Aldo: A knife, Donny: A bat, Shoshanna: A film reel etc.)
In the unity of the artwork, I can only find here and there some things that might get ameliorated. The way of the lineart seems a little wobbly. It might got improved at some provides but on the other hand: They are a groups of chibies after all, it is just naturally that an artist does not have the time, giving all of them a 100% precisely and strictly worked out lineart. Also in some kind of way, it suits the general setting of the artwork, a little bit nostalgic. Some other things that could have been worked out are the hands of some characters like Donny or Hicox, Bridget's flower or Donny's bat, because it appears to be a bit contorted. Maybe also Shoshanna's dress, since it looks a little stiff. I know it's the cut of the dress but all the other characters came out so dynamic, she is looking a little like a figure.
But apart from that partially very picky foibles I just metioned, I think you did a very beautiful job at all of them. There's one more thing I'd like to mention in a positive way. It's the hairstyles of the crew.
I am stunned how you were able to figure them out so well. I for my part, always saw the hairstyles of Aldo and Donny the same. But you really made it to spererate them from eachother so well. I am impressed. Same thing at Shoshanna and Bridget, also they are all wonderfully shaded.
You made the background fit the characters of the artwork so well. I mean, the colours do really harmonize here. Also it is a very nice touch how you added a little red here and there, suiting it better for the characters.
So after all: This is one of my favourite "Inglourious Basterds" fanarts I have seen here on deviantART, so far. I can't stop staring at it, they all look at me with such adorable eyes. The cutness here is almost impossible to express. Especially me, as HUGE Inglourious Basterds fan could stare at it the whole day. I so wish I could hang it in my room so I have them all together. So, I say "Bravo!".

PS: I'm sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes. I am German and I tend, building some mistakes into my sentence structures.
